(due to popular demand---Kythe makes an entry!! :D)
Name: Daekythe(day-k-iy-th), known as Kythe(K-iy-th), originally Keith(Key-th).
Age: 19 upon death, one year dead.
Gender: Male
Race: Undead
Description: Light brown--almost blonde hair claws across his face, covering the gaping gunwound that takes the place of his right eye. He's a little wirey; thin but well molded and bearing a decently muscular build. Along his side is a giant rune; writ to resemble both an eye and a clock. It is of a strangely mystic appearance; ingrained--tattooed into his skin, and is active now, even after the fact of the revival. It is apparent that it would be extremely, extremely difficult to separate his soul from his body, because of this particular rune. Even if you managed to, the rune would pull him back in. You'd have to destroy his entire body to kill him.
His eye--his good eye, it a muddy brown/gray color, shifting between multiple tones of each color.
He wears simple shoes with black jeans that have the knees worn off. A tight teeshirt is covered by two ponchos; each a durable, leather-like consistency. Because of the way they are cut, they do not mar his ability to move. Hidden within the flaps of the ponchos are 7-8 concealed knives. More visibly, a rather long sword hangs on his belt, easily accessible, although he rarely reaches for it.
He always--always seems to be looking for something. His feet propel him to destinations unknown; arms reach to embrace nothing. The words are always on his lips, the sight always in his eyes... Seeing what is not, instead of what is.
Weapons: Concealed knives, sword, and limited magic knowledge.
Items: He rarely carries anything with him.
Personality: On a good day, Kythe is a genuinely nice person. He enjoys some of the company of others; although he might seem distracted or preoccupied at times, glancing around corners as if he might see something important. However, he is enjoyable enough to be around, and sincere.
On a bad day, however, you probably won't get along with him too well. If you're a guy, you might be mistaken for the man that killed his sister--and he will try to kill you, as viciously as he can. Even if he succeeds in killing one person, that fact is lost to his mind soon after--so he may kill, several people in one day, and still seek that revenge.
You don't have to look anything like that person for him to attack you. His conditions take care of that.
However, if you're a girl, he may envision you as his sister.. the one he seeks, the one he misses so dearly. He's prone to doting on you, joking around and moving forward with things as though you were her. He'll forget entirely that she's dead at all.
Of course, this is on a bad day. On other days, he may seem partially; if not entirely sane. It all depends on when you meet him. It is likely that he needs medical help, but paying attention to the concept that he is undead; that might not even help to cool these symptoms.
He's a good guy, to sum this up.. Good, but crazy.
History: Keith's parents were both uniquely abusive. His mother was a raging drunk whom was prone to outbursts and madly beating her children, with little to no reason. His father never paid attention to the violence; finding it easier to keep quiet and pretend it didn't happen.
Under this oppression, Keith grew close to his younger sister, Arianne, who was roughly eight years old, as he was seventeen. She had a certain knack for magic--and had been working it secretly and untutoredly since the age of four.
This lifestyle was what he'd gotten used to; and more than once he'd taken the hit for his sister. Increasingly, though, he was becoming fiercely independent, knowing entirely that he would move out with his sister when he hit eighteen. He was able to put up with the punishment--and stayed, even when she came after him with a knife, which had ended up embedded in his bedroom door.
It was only when he had reason to suspect that his father was being inappropriate to Ari, did he pack up their things and take off, while his dad was at work and his mother was too drunk to stop them.
Although it was hard to get far without any money, Keith and Ari managed to get some hundred miles over the Ephorian landscape, to a small city with a good deal of promise. Here, he picked up a job and rented a small house. For awhile, that was fine, until he read about a Magic-oriented school for the gifted.. Taking up a second job to pay the tuition, he enrolled Ari almost immediately, sure that she would make something of it--that, even if his youth was wasted, she would grow up to be something great. She had a massive amount of potential, after all.
Money is tight, but they manage for a good couple of years. Ari advances into her magic so quickly that she is bumped up a grade over the time--and is receiving tutoring after school. A typical kid--she doesn't enjoy homework, but she does do it, because Keith insists.
All the meanwhile, unbeknown to her, there is a rising gang among the streets.. And they start harassing Keith for money. He puts off paying them, again and again; not wanting to dip into her tuition.
She's going to be someone someday.
Was what he told himself, every single time. And I won't take that away from her.
However, the gang gets tired of waiting. Threats are issued.
And eventually, they are followed up on.
A bullet to the head--through his right eye, to be precise; was all it took to take him out. They took all the money he had on him, and dumped his body into the nearby river, where it was whisked off; eventually coming to shore a few miles downstream in the forest.
That day, Keith doesn't pick his little sister up from school like he usually does.
In fact, when she gets tired and check home, he's not their either.
And he's not at either of his jobs.
And she asks the neighbors, but they haven't seen him. (They probably heard the shot--all of them--but they don't want to involve themselves.)
So she looks on her own, her backpack still slung over her shoulders.
And late at night, she finds his body, lying face down in the smallest layer of water, his hair flowing lightly with the current. Part of his shoulder was ripped open, from god-knows what. The blood has been washed away--but just by looking at him, she can tell that he is gone.
Tears press into her eyes--nine now, going to be ten next month--they had planned such things, like going out to dinner or having a party at the house and inviting her friends--things that would never happen now. She had never, ever imagined that he would be ripped so cruelly from him. It was almost shock to her system.
This strong brother of hers was dead. The same one that saved her from the abuse of her mother and the terror of her father. He was gone. He was gone, gone, gone.
She pulled him out of the water, weeping the entire way. He was stiff in places, and his face almost seemed blue, even under the pale moonlight. She hugged him tightly, as if he might feel it, and she opened her backpack with shaky hands.
Using a knife and ink, she lost herself in the intricacies of the rune she imprinted into his side. It evolved under her juvenile hands into something different than what her teachers had taught--somehow, more powerful. And eye, it became--no, a clock--no, it was everything, she decided. It was life beyond life.
All at once she dropped her instruments and pressed her hands onto the rune, which glowed vibrantly for a moment.
"brother.." she whispered. "don't.. leave.. me.."
His eye opened, false breathe filling his lungs. "Ari!" he called out, as she collapsed into his arms. "Ari are you--okay?" he spoke, his words tripping over themselves as, over the reflection of the two in the water, he lifted her into his arms, "Ari, say something!" he demanded.
She looked up at him distantly. "I... see a light.." she whispered.. "Is is day, Keith?"
she murmured, trembled, and died.
Day, Keith?
Daykeith?
Daekeith?
Dae-ky-the?
Is it Daekythe?
The words echoed into his mind, as his pupils dilated, his throat clotting with grief. The life was gone from her eyes. Gone, gone like a wisp of air in the night. his mind snapped.
He looked down, and saw his reflection, only his reflection; but it wasn't him.
This man grinned madly up at him, holding a figure that was his sister with malevolence in his eyes. And this man held his arms out, and dropped her into the water, where the body was carried off. For awhile, he was victim to this--frozen in place. And then he ran off into the woods, following the river, a black vat which had consumed her entirely--screaming for his sister the whole way.
--
His mental state has only declined throughout his year of being dead. He searches--always finding nothing but temporary relief; mentally absent, sometimes. He means well, he really does.. But his illness have caused him to be alienated by many people.
So he searches. For his sister, for her killer.
He's always, always searching.
